EXTENSION CARE GUIDE
DAILY CARE
Brush 2–3 times a day using gentle strokes — hold extensions at the base for support and start from the ends, working up.
Ask your stylist about our extension-safe brushes, available for purchase in the salon.Use a moisturizing leave-in conditioner daily.
Recommended products: In Common Magic Myst, Goldie Locks Ultra Hydrating Leave-In, and Davines Oi Milk.Apply oil to the ends daily to keep them smooth and hydrated.
Recommended oils: Virtue Healing Oil, Davines Oi Oil, or Goldie Locks Serum.Avoid pulling, tugging, or rough handling of your extensions.
Sleeping / Night Routine
Detangle and apply a leave-in conditioner and oil before bed.
Use the same recommended products above, available for purchase in the salon.Secure hair in a loose braid or low ponytail to prevent tangling while sleeping.
We recommend using a satin or silk scrunchie.Never sleep with wet hair.
Washing
Always brush and detangle before washing.
Clip your hair in sections to ensure you clean both the top and bottom of your row(s).
Use caution at the top of the row(s) to avoid snagging or matting.Use moisturizing, extension-safe products and a deep conditioning mask once every 1–2 weeks.
Favorites include Virtue, Goldie Locks, and Davines.Wash no more than 2–3 times per week.
Extensions don’t need to be washed as frequently as your natural hair — less is more.Extend time between washes with a “top wash” (washing only the hair above your extensions).
A perfect quick refresh if you’re short on time.
STYLING
Always use a heat protectant and keep tools on a low–medium heat setting (320–360°F).
Recommended: In Common Magic Myst or Davines Oi Milk. When wearing hair up or tied back, gently pull the corners of your row(s) to relieve tension.
Avoid claw clips or bobby pins attached directly to the wefts to prevent added weight or disturbance.
SUMMER CARE
Pre-Swim Care
Brush hair thoroughly to remove tangles.
Apply a leave-in conditioner focusing on mids to ends.
Recommended: Goldie Locks Ultra Hydrating, In Common Magic Myst, or Davines Oi Milk.
(Tip: Dampen hair with water before applying for better distribution.)Wear a protective style to minimize tangling and prevent matting.
Try a low pony with a bubble braid (regular braids can cause matting).
Post-Swim Care
Remove protective style and gently detangle.
If needed, detangle after washing and applying a mask instead.Wash with a moisturizing shampoo, apply a rich hair mask, and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.
Recommended masks: Goldie Locks Ultra Hydrating Signature Mask, Davines Oi Hair Butter, or Davines Heart of Glass Intense Treatment.Gently detangle and follow up with your favorite hydrating products.
Style as usual.
Let’s Talk Sunscreen
-
Some sunscreens contain chemical ingredients that can react with blonde or light-colored hair extensions.
When these ingredients break down in sunlight, sweat, or chlorine, they can cause a reaction that leaves a peach, orange, or pinkish tint on extensions — this discoloration cannot be removed. -
Avoid Avobenzone and Octocrylene to prevent discoloration.
-
Mineral sunscreen only.
Apply to all areas where your extensions might touch — including the face, neck, shoulders, and upper back. -
Goldie Locks, Cocokind, Blue Lizard, and Primally Pure all have great mineral-based options.
Goldie Locks Sheer Mineral Sunscreen available for purchase in the salon.
